Frequently Asked Questions

How is rarity calculated?
Your score is computed from how many other players gave the same answer today. If 40% of players said "Apple" for "Name a fruit", that's a common answer and scores low. If only 1 player said "Kumquat", that's rare and scores high. The rarity is real - calculated from actual player responses, not editorially assigned.
What does "Early results" mean?
When fewer than 50 players have answered a prompt, the rarity scores are blended with a baseline to avoid extreme swings. The badge shows honestly how many players have answered so far. As more players join, scores become more accurate.
When do new prompts appear?
New prompts go live at midnight UTC each day. Everyone around the world gets the same set of 7 prompts.
My valid answer was rejected. Why?
Each prompt has a curated list of accepted answers. If your answer is valid but not on our list, we apologize! We're constantly expanding our answer lists. Common synonyms and minor misspellings are accepted automatically.
Do I need an account?
No! Rarest uses an anonymous ID stored in your browser. No email, no password, no sign-up. Your stats and streak are saved locally in your browser.
Can I play on multiple devices?
Each device gets its own anonymous ID, so your stats won't sync between devices. But you can play the daily game on any device.
How does the Party Room work?
Create a room to get a 5-letter code. Share the code with up to 12 friends. Everyone answers the same prompts and you see a live scoreboard. Rooms expire after 24 hours.
Is Rarest free?
Yes, completely free! We may show non-intrusive ads in the future to keep the lights on, but the game itself will always be free.
Is my data private?
Yes. We don't collect personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.
